Two Precious Girls!!!

We feel so blessed to announce the arrival of our two precious baby girls. They entered the world on October 23, 2008 at 1:49pm and 1:50pm. Cate Grace arrived first and weighed 5lb 15oz and Ava Faith arrived right after and weighed in at 5lb 14oz. They are both perfectly healthy and went straight to the waiting room to meet Erick and our families after delivery.

I am sorry it has taken me so long to update. I ended up having to be completely under for the delivery (c-section) and had a longer recovery than I expected. Erick was not allowed to be in the operating room because of this, but we had such an awesome nurse who got some pictures as soon as the girls came out. Since I was under, everyone got to see and find out the gender of the babies before I did. Erick came back to recovery to tell me what we had which was such a special moment to me, since I really wanted him to be the one to tell instead of the doctor shouting it out. Boy was I surprised to find out we had two girls. I have the worst intuition ever!

I will add pictures once I make the blog private, which may be a week or so since we have been really busy. We got home yesterday afternoon and let me tell you, two at the same time are a lot of work, but the best work there could ever be!

Our Blog is Going Private

We have decided to make our blog private. If you still want to check in on us, please send your email address to me at laurenmacha@sbcglobal.net.

We are scheduled!!!!

We went to the doctor today and are scheduled for a c-section tomorrow at 1:30. Baby B has been really active and during the 3 sonograms I had in the past three weeks was head down, then transverse and as of today is breech which is why my doctor wants to do a c-section. We will go in around noon to begin the pre-op stuff and the surgery should be complete around 2:30. I will hopefully send out an email sometime tomorrow night with all the stats if/when I feel up to it.

I can't believe I made it to 38 weeks! This pregnancy has been such a blessing and I am so thankful for how well it has gone. I know not all pregnancies, much less twin pregnancies go this well and I truly thank the Lord for keeping us healthy. I continue to pray for a healthy and smooth delivery tomorrow. We can't wait to meet these two!

We have a date!

Went to the Dr. today and nothing has changed with me since Monday. He said I am first on the list for an induction next Thursday if they do not come on their own before then. So their birthday will be between now and 10/23. I am getting really excited and can't wait to meet them.

37 Weeks = Full Term

Wow, I am so excited that I made it to 37 weeks. October 15th has been my goal since the beginning and I can't believe it is here. Here is an excerpt from BabyCenter.com.

"Congratulations — your baby is full term! This means that if your baby arrives now, his lungs should be fully mature and ready to adjust to life outside the womb, even though your due date is still three weeks away.Your baby weighs 6 1/3 pounds and measures a bit over 19 inches, head to heel (like a stalk of Swiss chard). "

Now, I can officially say I am ready for these two to arrive. The most important thing is that they are healthy, and I feel if they came today they would do great! I will update if anything exciting happens.

Doc Appt

Went to the doc today and everything looked good. He said he would not schedule me until next week if I have not gone in to labor on my own. He wants to see me again this Thursday. Hopefully I will get a better idea then of when we expect these two precious babies to arrive at that time. He wants me to continue to rest until then, so that is what I will be doing the next couple of days. Hope to meet these babies soon.

Growth Scan

We went to the high risk doctor today for a growth scan and baby A is 5lb 10oz and baby B is 5lb 7oz. We are really excited they are growing well. The umbilical cord blood flow was good and the fluid levels were good, so my doctor was very pleased and said everything looked great. He said if I delivered today everything would be fine, so that was a big relief to me. I go to my OB on Monday, so hopefully we will know more then about the timing of an induction if they don't come on their own. Right now we are just waiting. I wouldn't mind them staying in another week or so. I am really excited to meet them, but not too anxious about it. I am also really enjoying being able to feel them move around, which I think I will miss once they are here. I am just so content and know everything is in God's hands. I will update on Monday! Just for fun, here are two pictures Erick took on Sunday - 35weeks 4 days.

36 weeks

Wow, I am so excited we have made it to 36 weeks! My goal since the beginning was to make it to 37 which is just one week away now. I have been feeling really good, so I think I should make it at least one more week. I just pray they are big and healthy when they are born. My doctor said he would induce or schedule a c-section between 37 and 38 weeks if I have not gone in to labor on my own. It is still up in the air whether I will have to have a c-section based on the way the babies are positioned right now. Baby A is head down, but B is transverse. My doctor would prefer them both be head down, so he said we would have to wait and see how they are positioned when the time comes.

I don't think it has really sunk in that we will be parents in the next week and a half. I feel really peaceful about the delivery and have not been anxious at all. I am also really excited to find out the gender of these two little ones. I think they are either 2 boys or a boy and a girl. I would be completely shocked if we came home with 2 little girls. I am not sure why I feel this way, just intuition.

My belly has grown so much in the past few weeks - I hope that means they are packing on the pounds. I will post new pictures soon.

Update

I am 35 weeks today and still working. My last day is this Friday and I am really excited. I hope the babies do not come until at least 37 weeks. I want them to grow as much as possible before their birthday. Here are some pictures of my belly from about a week ago. It has grown since then, but I don't have any pictures. I have also included some pictures of the nursery. It is finished except for curtains and I am going to paint their names on the canvas squares once we figure out who they are. We do have names picked out. They are B/G Reid Michael and Cate Grace, G/G Cate Grace and Ava Faith, and B/B Reid Michael and Luke Cy. I am feeling really good and and am hopeful they will stay in there a little while longer. I can't believe these little blessings will be here within the next 3 weeks (they will induce at 38 if I have not had them yet).

I will paint the babies names on the canvas squares once they are born. I will use bright pink if either one is a girl and navy if they are boys.

Both cribs - I still can't believe we are having two.Little book shelf. I can't wait to read to them!Close up of the bedding.Picture from the entrance to the nursery.Forgive the smirk, I don't feel too cute these days.
Big belly. It has gotten a lot bigger and that was only a week or two ago!
