Teeth
Well, on the 13th, Ava's first tooth popped through. It is the bottom right, and the left is soon to follow. She has been really fussy and not quite herself lately because of this. She is sleeping well, so that is blessing. She is very sensitive, so she won't let me look to see the progress of the new pearly whites! Cate is still all gums, but I am sure she will get one soon. She has been chewing on things more than ever and it seems she does things about 1 1/2 to 2 weeks after Ava.

I Think We Have Trouble
Both girls are crawling pretty well now and can pull up to their knees on furniture. They both do this in their cribs and look like little jail birds. Today, I tried to put them down for their afternoon nap Cate first, then Ava. I closed the door and heard Ava fuss a little and Cate "talking" to herself, both which are completely normal. I then heard Ava cry a little louder so I decided to peek in to see if she had dropped her pacifier out of her crib and I saw the beginning of major trouble. Ava was on her knees looking through her crib slats at Cate's crib. I then looked at Cate's crib and she was doing the same thing, looking at Ava. They both started giggling and I knew nap time would not happen today. I hope this is just another stage and they start to ignore each other again, at nap and bedtime that is.

Cate is Crawling
Well, she officially did it. Cate is now crawling, too. She did it for the first time yesterday, June 11. I am so proud of her. She is not as fast as Ava yet, but I figure over the next week I will be in trouble. They are so much fun now and I have been really enjoying them. Too bad I have to start working full-time for the remainder of the summer. Yuck!!! Oh well, at least there will be an end in sight (Sept 15th).

Summer Fun
Ava's first time in the pool. She loved it!
Cate in the pool for the first time!
Sweet sisters
We love to play together
Ava relaxing in the wagon. Erick's boss was so nice to get the wagon for the girls.
Cate loves the wagon, too
Ava is crawling!!!
This is what I found when she woke up from her nap. Time to lower the crib!

The girls got to go swimming for the first time yesterday. We got visit with our good friends the Kashubas and the Morrisseys at the Kashuba's new house. We had such a good time. I can't wait to do it again soon!!! Ava, of course, loved the pool, but Cate did not. I think it was partly because it was nap time and Cate loves her naps. Maybe next time she will take to the water.
We Have a Crawler
I can't believe how fast the girls are growing up. Ava started crawling last Sunday, May 31. Things are definitely busier now that we have one mobile baby. I can no longer lay the girls in the middle of the living room to play while I get things done around the house. Since Ava also started pulling herself up to her knees in her crib and looking over the rail, we decided to lower the girls cribs today. Now we need to look at getting a gate to put at the top of the stairs. I don't trust her one bit! Cate has also started to get on her knees and rock back and forth. It really upsets her that sister can crawl and she can't. Hopefully she will pick the crawling thing up soon. They both sit really well now, too.
They are starting interact with each other a lot more now. Ava loves to crawl all over Cate, and Cate giggles at Ava all the time. When we put them down for their afternoon nap today, we heard them "talking" to each other on the monitor. It was so cute. I think this may be trouble in the future.
Cate is such a great eater. She loves eating Oatmeal cereal and has really enjoyed applesause, bananas, peaches, and sweet potatos. Ava, on the other hand, does not like to eat solids at all. I still make her try everyday, but she just pushes the spoon away. I know she will figure it out soon, but in the meantime, it is a major challenge and mess at mealtime.

Update
A lot has happened since I last blogged. We were having some major sleep issues with Ava, which have resolved. She is finally sleeping through the night most nights. And, to me sleeping through the night is when I put them to bed between 7 and 7:30 and they don't wake until at least 6:30. We tried the cry it out method about a month ago, which was a nightmare. I know others whose kids would cry for an hour or two and fall asleep. Not our Ava. We tried several nights, but one night she cried (screamed) for 4 hours straight and I finally went in there. I rocked her for literally 2 minutes and she was out. That is when I decided it was not for her and she would figure it out when she was ready. Well, that is what happened about 3 weeks later.
They are both rolling all over the place and are getting really strong. Ava is scooting backwards and has tons of energy. Cate is more sensitive and gets pretty much anything she wants from me. They love their exersauser and jumperoo and have started cereal and applesause. We are goig to start some vegetables this week.
We are having tons of fun with them, but I have to admit I am exhausted. I am so thankful for their early bedtime so Erick and I can spend time together and get things done. I hope you enjoy these recent pictures of the girls.
