Transitions and What's New

Ok, so I know taking the pacifier away is going to be tough, but I had no clue taking the bottles away and moving to the sippy cup was going to be this hard. Maybe its because we are no longer letting the girls have their pacifiers during the day and they look forward to the bottle for comfort. They have been drinking water from sippys for several months at meals, so they know how to use them and actually like them, but when I first put milk in them, they threw them. Milk is not new either, they have been drinking it really well from their bottles - no transition problem at all. I think they got desperate today and drank a little but maybe 2-3 oz a piece which is progress, I guess. I am still giving them their morning and night bottles, which I hope to take away over the next week, so we will see. I just can't wait to be completely done with bottles and the sterilizer!
The girls are so much fun now. They are walking everywhere. It became their primary mode of transportation about 2 weeks before their birthday. They love shoes and socks. They carry them everywhere and want me to put them on so they can go outside. I don't know what I am going to do when it gets too cold to go on 2 walks a day and play in the backyard. They love Erick's and my shoes and try to put them on - too cute! Ava is also in the habit of throwing her sippy cup and food off her high chair tray, saying uh-oh and shrugging her shoulders. Cate is picking up on this and copying her. It is pretty cute, but I don't like it. I am also dealing with a little jealousy right now between the girls. I can tell they both just want mama without sister in her lap too. They cry when the other comes to sit down and even try to push each other out. It makes me a little sad I never get to give them one on one attention. I need to work on this, but I feel so guilty if I do have just one and the other is crying for me. When Erick gets home at night and we hear the garage door, Cate says dada and walks to the laundry room to greet him. The older the girls get, the more different their personalities are. I love them so much and feel so blessed everyday!
Here are a couple of pictures from their birthday party and one of Ava b/c it is so cute!

Wow, it has been 3 months since my last post. Jenn, this post is for you! I figure if a mom of a two year old and 2 month old triplets can update her blog with pictures, I have no excuse!

Too much time has passed to catch up, so I will just start from where we are now. I go back to my part time schedule this Wed. and I am so excited. I can't wait to spend more time with the girls. They are getting so big and are so close to walking. The are both standing and taking a few unassisted steps. They have been cruising everywhere for at least a month now. Actually, I am a horrible mom and never wrote down when they first did it, so I am guessing - ha! With working so much and juggling two I don't find much time for documenting their lives. I hardly have the time to just live it!
The girls are eating more and more table food. Cate loves just about anything we give her, and Ava is still a little picky, but just a little. They had avacado for the first time today, and liked it ok. I am trying to introduce more fresh finger foods, but the good old packaged Gerber is just so much easier.
Here are a couple of pictures. I have a bunch on my camera that still need to be downloaded.

Teeth

Well, on the 13th, Ava's first tooth popped through. It is the bottom right, and the left is soon to follow. She has been really fussy and not quite herself lately because of this. She is sleeping well, so that is blessing. She is very sensitive, so she won't let me look to see the progress of the new pearly whites! Cate is still all gums, but I am sure she will get one soon. She has been chewing on things more than ever and it seems she does things about 1 1/2 to 2 weeks after Ava.

I Think We Have Trouble

Both girls are crawling pretty well now and can pull up to their knees on furniture. They both do this in their cribs and look like little jail birds. Today, I tried to put them down for their afternoon nap Cate first, then Ava. I closed the door and heard Ava fuss a little and Cate "talking" to herself, both which are completely normal. I then heard Ava cry a little louder so I decided to peek in to see if she had dropped her pacifier out of her crib and I saw the beginning of major trouble. Ava was on her knees looking through her crib slats at Cate's crib. I then looked at Cate's crib and she was doing the same thing, looking at Ava. They both started giggling and I knew nap time would not happen today. I hope this is just another stage and they start to ignore each other again, at nap and bedtime that is.

Cate is Crawling

Well, she officially did it. Cate is now crawling, too. She did it for the first time yesterday, June 11. I am so proud of her. She is not as fast as Ava yet, but I figure over the next week I will be in trouble. They are so much fun now and I have been really enjoying them. Too bad I have to start working full-time for the remainder of the summer. Yuck!!! Oh well, at least there will be an end in sight (Sept 15th).

Summer Fun

Ava's first time in the pool. She loved it!
Cate in the pool for the first time!

Sweet sisters

We love to play together

Ava relaxing in the wagon. Erick's boss was so nice to get the wagon for the girls. Cate loves the wagon, too

Ava is crawling!!!

This is what I found when she woke up from her nap. Time to lower the crib!

The girls got to go swimming for the first time yesterday. We got visit with our good friends the Kashubas and the Morrisseys at the Kashuba's new house. We had such a good time. I can't wait to do it again soon!!! Ava, of course, loved the pool, but Cate did not. I think it was partly because it was nap time and Cate loves her naps. Maybe next time she will take to the water.

We Have a Crawler

I can't believe how fast the girls are growing up. Ava started crawling last Sunday, May 31. Things are definitely busier now that we have one mobile baby. I can no longer lay the girls in the middle of the living room to play while I get things done around the house. Since Ava also started pulling herself up to her knees in her crib and looking over the rail, we decided to lower the girls cribs today. Now we need to look at getting a gate to put at the top of the stairs. I don't trust her one bit! Cate has also started to get on her knees and rock back and forth. It really upsets her that sister can crawl and she can't. Hopefully she will pick the crawling thing up soon. They both sit really well now, too.

They are starting interact with each other a lot more now. Ava loves to crawl all over Cate, and Cate giggles at Ava all the time. When we put them down for their afternoon nap today, we heard them "talking" to each other on the monitor. It was so cute. I think this may be trouble in the future.

Cate is such a great eater. She loves eating Oatmeal cereal and has really enjoyed applesause, bananas, peaches, and sweet potatos. Ava, on the other hand, does not like to eat solids at all. I still make her try everyday, but she just pushes the spoon away. I know she will figure it out soon, but in the meantime, it is a major challenge and mess at mealtime.
